Raised in the heartbeat of hip-hop and global artistry, Tyme Journey began her creative path as a teenage photographer, capturing the soul of cities like Berlin, Paris, and New York while on tour. Over time, her love for visual storytelling evolved into screenwriting, directing, and producing — culminating in her 2019 debut short film, Save the Studio.
“It was a one-woman show. I wrote, directed, filmed, and edited it all myself.”
Now, she’s pushing forward with a powerful content series called “Tour Life,” available on YouTube and Instagram, where she documents life on the road through a lens shaped by culture, legacy, and vision.
Creative DNA: Built on Art, Movement, and Meaning
From beauty tutorials in New York to hip-hop cyphers and documentaries, Tyme has embraced a multi-passionate creative life.
“I discovered my love for photography in Berlin at 14. I’ve done beauty influencing, music content, and more. I can’t limit myself to just one field.”
She credits her confidence and fast learning skills to growing up in an environment filled with challenges, opportunities, and movement.
“If I had to describe our household in one word, it would be ‘active.’ Every day brought something new.”
The Hidden Life of a Hip-Hop Heir
As the daughter of KRS-One, a hip-hop icon, Tyme’s childhood was intentionally kept out of the public spotlight — something she now deeply appreciates.
“The most important thing was learning who I am. Fans would always ask, ‘Do you know who you are?’ That question shaped my entire youth.”
It wasn’t always easy. Prom nights and playground days were often replaced by soul-searching questions about purpose and legacy.
A Family Legacy of Fashion, Film, and Future Self-Love
Tyme’s dreams are as expansive as her talents. In addition to filmmaking, she’s deeply invested in fashion business and design. Her long-term vision includes launching a BDP.ONE fashion line and debuting it with a Paris runway show — a tribute to her grandmother, mother, and aunt who once produced fashion shows of their own.
“I want to honor my grandmother by carrying on our family legacy in fashion.”
Her family’s motto, “Be a friend to your future self,” guides her daily actions and creative decisions.
Behind the Short Film “Save the Studio”
Tyme co-created Save the Studio with her father to uplift and inspire artists navigating uncertain creative paths.
“We wanted to motivate engineers and creatives to keep going, even when the odds are stacked against them.”
The music was written specifically for the film, featuring freestyles and original singles like “Krazy” and “Knock Em Out.”
What’s Next for Tyme Journey?
Currently on The Return of the Boom Bap Tour, she’s working on exclusive merchandise and filming a tour movie for BDP.ONE.
As for the future?
“In 10 years, I see myself successful, healthy, and happy.”
With a daily routine that starts with music, includes self-care, and ends with focused work, Tyme is living proof of what it means to be creatively grounded while reaching for greatness.
