A Local Force of Nature: Meet Tammary Scott Dowdell
If “force of nature” had a face, it would be Tammary Scott Dowdell. The founder and CEO of B’Mari Events & Arts Studio is a beloved figure in South Atlanta — known for her unstoppable drive, warm energy, and commitment to community impact.
From Corporate Burnout to Creative Vision
Like many first-generation entrepreneurs, Tammary’s leap into business was less of a plan and more of a push.
“I literally did it the way Steve Harvey says — no money, no business plan, no good credit. I just knew I had to leave that hostile environment.”
With no formal roadmap, she built her brand from scratch, starting with catering and creative events out of love for family gatherings and good food.
The Origin of B’Mari: A Name Rooted in Love
The name B’Mari honors her mother, Marianna.
“One day, while cooking, my mom said, ‘That’s not how Mama makes that.’ I told her, ‘I got this.’ She replied, ‘Okay, I’m just going to eat, drink, and be Mari.’ That’s when I knew — it had to be spelled M-A-R-I.”
What started as a hobby became a platform — a space for events, art, and local connection.
A Businesswoman Since Childhood
Tammary’s path was always clear.
“As a little girl, I’d wear my aunt’s heels, carry a purse, and say, ‘I am a businesswoman!’”
That confidence shaped her journey — from family-hosted parties to operating a full-scale event and arts venue that now incubates other local entrepreneurs.
