Henry County Transit to Launch Henry Connect Route 1 with Ribbon Cutting Ceremonies in McDonough and Stockbridge

Henry County Transit will celebrate the launch of Henry Connect Route 1, a new local transit service designed to expand mobility, improve regional connectivity, and support a stronger transportation network for Henry County residents.

Ribbon cutting ceremonies will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, in both McDonough and Stockbridge. A Henry Connect bus will be on-site for the celebration.

The first program will begin at 1:00 p.m. at McDonough Square, located at 1 McDonough Square, McDonough, GA 30253. The second program will begin at 2:45 p.m. at VyStar–Stockbridge Amphitheater, located at 465 N. Henry Blvd., Stockbridge, GA 30281.

The launch marks a major step in Henry County’s broader transportation vision to strengthen regional transit access, expand mobility, and create a more connected community.

Henry Connect Route 1 represents an $850,000 investment in opportunity, access, and quality of life. The project includes two new buses, 58 bus stops, accessible boarding, and real-time arrival information. The route is projected to serve 8,700 new riders annually and increase systemwide ridership by 17.6 percent.

The new route will connect downtown McDonough, Piedmont Henry Hospital, and downtown Stockbridge, giving residents expanded access to healthcare, jobs, schools, retail, community destinations, and regional transportation connections.

One of the key benefits of the new service is its connection to the broader regional transit network. The route will include a MARTA transfer in the initial fare, helping riders avoid double-payment as they connect to regional transportation options. The stop at Piedmont Henry Hospital also strengthens access to one of Henry County’s major healthcare and employment centers.

Service on Henry Connect Route 1 will begin on July 13, 2026. Buses will operate hourly from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Rides will be free for the first month. After the introductory period, fares will be $2.50 per ride for riders under age 60 and $1.00 per ride for riders age 60 and older.

Riders may access route maps, schedules, fare information, and stop details by visiting the Henry County website or by calling 770-288-7433.
